I got my shiz done this weekend, the majority of it anyways. At one point I thought about going all the way and finishing every little thing off of my to-do list but then I got hungry and then distracted with watching the entire Weeds final season. Baby steps people.
So this happened.

Just primed it but that was a big deal here.

And pretty much the only home improvement worth reporting that was made. We did find this big boy to replace the nugget in the Living Room.

I'm not feeling it's current paint job. Suggestions?? Seriously tell me, I'm having painter's block.

How great of a color are these carnations? They make me so happy.

But a sleeping dog who spends the majority of her day literally "under foot" makes me even happier.

I must share another favorite thing about Fall. The TV. I'm aware I have mentioned watching TV twice in this post and I promise I actually engage in other extracurricular activities. But seriously in the Spring your favorite shows end and leave you to watching stale re-runs (or I guess this is when you would turn the TV off and live your life while not sitting on your couch). But then Fall rolls around and everything is NEW and there is reason not to go to bed at 9:30.

Do Work

I love the Fall. But it brings on the arch nemesis of home projects. Football. Two games in 24 hours does not produce pictures of completed projects but these are just as good.

My List for this weekend. I'm not going anywhere and I have no plans, shiz is getting done.
1. Paint Fireplace
2. Look for new sofa
3. Hang curtains
4. Find mirror for Foyer
All completely do-able but if you don't hear from me on Monday that is because I will be ashamed of myself.

In my spare time (when I won't be watching re-runs of RHONJ before next weeks finale, quality TV I tell you) I'm going to try and knock out these two projects.

Today marks 4 months in.
I really likes him.

Making Strides

Ikea is no joke. This why you get married.

thanks Cam.

Things have been hectic around here. I feel like I would need to take an entire week off of work to get the house in a state that would make me feel relaxed in. But a week off of work would be a death wish. I find myself thinking about things I want to do when I get home all throughout the day but then when I actually get home I have lost all motivation. Not good. Need more coffee, less wine. Although there have been developments.

Found this mirrored table in a consignment shop. Love her.
Washed some rugs and Cam finally let me put them back in house, which reduced the echo down about 20%
Finally hung something on a wall. I have hanger's remorse quickly, so I'm moving slow. Thought I was so clever with this trio (pics from when we saw eachother before the wedding)
L.R. made the transistion to the outdoors. We are all much, much happier.

Sorry for the dullness. I'm going to rev it up today and hopefully have something much better to report. I feel like there could be real progress made tonight. I'm already on my fourth cup of coffee......

Shelf Help

I have encountered a familiar dilemna. Much like the old house we are having a storage problem. This time we have closet space for the stuff nobody wants to look at but we don't have any space for the things I want to show off and make my house more beautimous.
Point being, we need some serious shelving situations happening in here. Built-ins are a far away dream right now so I've been scouting out units this week that will get my shiz off the floor and into the limelight.

ideal...

more realistic.
Those last 2 are the IKEA Vittsjo, it comes in black metal but is easily transformed into a showcase with a little spray paint magic and only $70 a pop. I have to give myself a pat on the back for actually thinking this up after Friday's post and boom there it was on Pinterest of course. This will definitely be happening soon.
And there was this guy I found on the Craigslist he needed some lovin.
Planning on sprucing him up with possibly a new paint color, a little trim detailing and definitely new hardware. I think we will be very happy together.

In other news:
Long Live the Queen.

friday's my favorite

These are a few of my favorite things, in no particular order...

Actually I love this the most.

I forgot to mention when it was actually relevant that I loved seeing those Spice Girls reunite. Apparently girl power keeps you young, that and botox...

I want these to find their way into my closet.

I plan on making lots of progress this weekend. Will report back if that actually happens.
I also possibly might sign up Marley for swim lessons.

5 days of home owning

I will be the first to admit that I did not know what I was in for before we moved into this house. I had all these visions of foyers, crown moldings, and new furniture. In reality it's more like plumbing issues, black widows, and bare windows. Lets just say my priorities have changed. Don't get me wrong I am LOVING having so much space and being able to finally decorate. Here are some things that are to be tackled asap...

THE PLUMBING.
(picture clearly not necessary)

Obviously this fridge doesn't fit in that space. It sticks out about 6 inches which is compromising the not so wide entry way. This problem will hopefully be tackled this week...

This is the Den. Currently inhabited by the Crate & Barrel aftermath. We have nothing for this room as of yet and as you can see this is a pretty decent sized room so it will require a decent amount of furniture. A friend mentioned the idea of converting it into a dance floor for the time being, sounds good to me.

This is the front window, it's a doozy. Currently it is the stage inwhich we are performing on for all of our neighbors and passerbys. There is another window a bit smaller on the adjacent wall facing our next door neighbor. These need to be covered pronto, before we scare off all of our neighbors even before we meet them.

The fireplace (if you can see it behind all the randomness). Exposed brick ain't my thang. Unless it is painted. Which is what we planned on doing last weekend. However Cam got cold feet "because once you paint the brick you can never go back", well that's the point. He told me that my style changes often and I informed him that this was never my style nor will it ever be, unless he buys me a mountain house inwhich case I might consider it. So now we might tile it or go back to the original idea of painting it. Either way the process will be documented.

Oh hey there Lionel.

Lionel wants to go outside.
But he can't. Not yet at least. Quick bio of Lionel (last name Richie): When we moved into our rental house 2 years ago he started wandering up to our house, he was the neighborhood stray. Being a general animal lover (and yes that includes cats) I started taking care of him, which led to him coming into the house (which Cam was not ok with) and eventually spending the night in the house and all that goes along with it. Basically he became our cat. And contrary to reports we did NOT steal him from a neighbor. So Lionel made the move to the new house and cannot go outside for a few weeks, he has to become acculmated with the new digs and then can venture outdoors. Which will be nerve racking. But in the meantime he has been making his displeasure in this arrangement known, he is very vocal and basically has been yelling at us for the past 3 nights.

I also mentioned Black Widows, apparently at least three have been spotted around the house. Most likely because the house has'nt be inhabited in a couple of years. So until the little problem has been taken care of I will be residing indoors.

Happy Hump Day. This is my mantra for the day.

Rock to Water

We did it! All crisis averted, problems solved, papers signed, load of bricks taken off back. Friday we closed on the house and started the move. I say we, but it was mostly Cam. We had some disagreement on just how much weight I was willing and able to hold... I agree and am willing to carry things under 30 pounds. We moved the whole weekend and since we only moved about a mile and have until the end of the month to get out of our current house we are taking our time, oh wait actually I am taking my time (this is where Cam disagrees). Regardless we made some head way and actually slept there last night. Highlights of the weekend included Cam cutting down his first tree, a trip to Ikea, dinner al fresco at a friend's house, and finding a pair of moldy booties in my closet. I was secretly fasicnated by this but also disgusted, who knew shoes could get moldy?

I'm going to miss those shoes we had some good times together and I apologize for the graphic image. Honestly though how does that even happen to shoes? I promise I don't have some disgusting foot fungus. I leave you with the face that stole a thousand hearts (sans goggles this time).
