Indecent Exposure

One of the things I first liked about our house was the size of the Living Room and Den.

However lately it's been driving me crazy. Long, large rooms = lots of floor. 

So - much - hardwood - can - not - take- it - ANYMORE!! 

Clearly we are also are also crucially in need of more furniture, art, new paint and trim, drapes and to get that ceiling fan the hell out of there. 

Sure some people live with bare floors but every sound in the house is amplified and there is a constant urge/need to sweep. Rugs the size of these rooms aren't cheap and since there would be so much of it I want something that I won't get sick of looking at. I have finally come to a solution. It literally was under my nose the whole time (like seriously I have stacks of these books at my desk).

SEAGRASS, SISAL, JUTE, whatever you fancy. I was afraid these would make my rooms look too Pottery Barn/vacation home, but due to my extensive studying I'm finally starting to understand what clearly everyone else already knew - it looks awesome everywhere with every decor.

You can also find it practically anywhere and at every price point. I can't get them in my house fast enough. Although due to my current...ahem...budgeting, they're going to be coming one at a time.
That saying "all good things come with time" has been waaay over used in this house -- nothing like being an impatient person with a strict budget, in a near empty house.

Marley on the other hand, has all the time in world.

Attention Target shoppers

 I am a self proclaimed Target connoisseur, I love scoping out the good stuff. 

A discovery I made awhile back are their line of candles by NEST, appropriately called MELT.

Half the price of NEST candles and they do an amazing job of keeping the smell of dog from wafting through the house. Go stock up on the Holiday scents they're on CLEARANCE (favorite word). 

Let's be honest, who doesn't want it to smell like Christmas all year round?

                     

Lets Do This

It 's mid January. It would appear as if I fell off the face of the earth since my last post.
My job has been ridic and was leaving me drained, I've been working on a way to balance work and the rest of my life. I'm just starting to get a the hang of it.
I made some resolutions but to be completely honest, I've broken all of them already. I'm more of the "wake up in the morning and tell myself that I'm going to exercise, eat better than I did the day before and try to be nicer" type of person. I'm taking this whole thing one day at a time.
One exception is that I'm going to try and make it to this page as often as I can.

I'm obsessed with these ladies duds. Very nicely done.

I got my shiz done this weekend, the majority of it anyways. At one point I thought about going all the way and finishing every little thing off of my to-do list but then I got hungry and then distracted with watching the entire Weeds final season. Baby steps people.

So this happened.

Just primed it but that was a big deal here.

And pretty much the only home improvement worth reporting that was made. We did find this big boy to replace the nugget in the Living Room.

I'm not feeling it's current paint job. Suggestions?? Seriously tell me, I'm having painter's block.

How great of a color are these carnations? They make me so happy.

But a sleeping dog who spends the majority of her day literally "under foot" makes me even happier.

I must share another favorite thing about Fall. The TV. I'm aware I have mentioned watching TV twice in this post and I promise I actually engage in other extracurricular activities. But seriously in the Spring your favorite shows end and leave you to watching stale re-runs (or I guess this is when you would turn the TV off and live your life while not sitting on your couch). But then Fall rolls around and everything is NEW and there is reason not to go to bed at 9:30.

Do Work

 I love the Fall. But it brings on the arch nemesis of home projects. Football. Two games in 24 hours does not produce pictures of completed projects but these are just as good.

                            

My List for this weekend. I'm not going anywhere and I have no plans, shiz is getting done.

1. Paint Fireplace

2. Look for new sofa

3. Hang curtains 

4. Find mirror for Foyer

All completely do-able but if you don't hear from me on Monday that is because I will be ashamed of myself.

In my spare time (when I won't be watching re-runs of RHONJ before next weeks finale, quality TV I tell you) I'm going to try and knock out these two projects. 

Today marks 4 months in. 

I really likes him.
